
Friday night, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu made the announcement that Godwin Emefiele, the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), would be removed from his position.
According to Gist legit, Willie Bassey, the Director of Information in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), announced the suspension in a statement on Friday.
Emefiele has been instructed to hand over control of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to the Deputy Governor (Operations Directorate), who will serve as the Central Bank Governor until the investigation and reforms are finished.

Emefiele is supposed to handover to Folashodun Adebisi Shonubi, the the Deputy Governor of the apex bank.
Gist legit reports that Adebisi Shonubi was appointed by formal President Muhammadu Buhari in 2018.
The Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System Plc (NIBSS) was managed by Shonubi.
