BREAKING: PASAN Blocks National Assembly Entrances Amid Nationwide Strike

Members of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN), affiliated with the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), have blocked the entrance and exit of the National Assembly as part of the ongoing nationwide strike.

Early on Monday, PASAN members used two coastal buses to barricade the gates, preventing access to the National Assembly complex. The move is part of the broader strike action initiated by organized labor due to the federal government’s failure to meet the unions’ minimum wage demands.

The situation at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja mirrored this disruption. Striking workers blocked access, leaving passengers unable to enter the airport.

The nationwide strike commenced today following the breakdown of negotiations on a new minimum wage by the tripartite committee formed by the Federal Government. The strike has already led to significant disruptions, including the shutdown of the national power grid.
