Suspected Israeli Airstrikes Kill Several in Syria

Several individuals were killed early Monday in a suspected Israeli airstrike near Aleppo in northwestern Syria, according to state media reports citing a military source. The overnight attack targeted the area around Aleppo, causing significant casualties.

The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that missiles struck positions held by a pro-Iranian militia in the Hayan area, north of Aleppo. However, this information has not yet been independently verified, and there has been no official comment from Israeli authorities.

Israel’s air force frequently conducts strikes in Syria, aiming to prevent Iran and its allied militias from increasing their military presence in the region. Iran is a key ally of the Syrian government, providing substantial military and economic support.

Since the onset of the war in the Gaza Strip nearly eight months ago, there has been a notable increase in Israeli airstrikes in Syria, although many of these attacks are not officially acknowledged by Israel. This ongoing conflict underscores the broader regional tensions and the complex geopolitical dynamics involving Israel, Syria, and Iran.
