Bandits Attack Zamfara Village, Kill Seven Policemen and Twelve Villagers

On Thursday, bandits launched a deadly attack on Magarya village in Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State, resulting in the deaths of seven policemen and twelve villagers.

Zamfara State Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Shehu Dalijan, confirmed the incident, revealing that among the victims were a member of the Zamfara State Community Guards, also known as Askarawan Zamfara, and four residents of the village.

The commissioner detailed that approximately 300 bandits, riding motorbikes, stormed the village. Upon arrival, they surrounded the policemen and opened fire, killing seven officers and injuring several others.

Dalijan suggested that the bandits targeted the village due to the police’s successful efforts in preventing their attacks over the past two years. “The bandits were not happy with our men who prevented them from carrying out their heinous act for over two years now,” he stated. “Since the deployment of police to the area, the bandits could not have a chance to attack the village.”

In response to the attack, the commissioner assured that more police personnel would be deployed to strengthen security in the area.
