Aisha Yesufu Criticizes Tinubu Over N21bn VP Lodge

Prominent activist Aisha Yesufu has sharply criticized President Bola Tinubu’s administration following the commissioning of the new Vice President’s lodge, which reportedly cost N21 billion.

Yesufu expressed her disapproval on social media, questioning the expenditure and highlighting the poor landscaping as an example of the administration’s incompetence. She suggested that the current government is more adept at electoral manipulation than effective governance.

“The incompetence is so glaring, even to themselves. How do you accept this shabby lawn? The N21 billion was not enough to cover landscaping? How do you come out of your house and the front is looking like a kids’ abandoned football field? Rigging is the only thing they know how to focus on,” Yesufu posted on X.

On Friday, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu officially commissioned the Vice President’s lodge, emphasizing that the facility symbolizes respect for the office and the individual who occupies it. Vice President Kashim Shettima, representing President Tinubu at the event, underscored the administration’s commitment to providing leaders with the necessary resources to serve effectively.

President Tinubu acknowledged the challenges the project had faced, including delays and abandonment by previous administrations. He asserted that the completion of the Vice President’s residence reflects the administration’s resolve to overcome obstacles and fulfill its promises, consistent with the Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes the completion of inherited projects.

“Rather than dwell on past shortcomings, we have chosen to seize this opportunity to demonstrate our resolve to confront obstacles head-on and deliver on the promises made to the Nigerian people,” Tinubu stated.
