Allegation: Yahaya Bello Hiding in Kogi Government House – PDP Chieftain Claims

Austin Okai, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Dekina/Bassa Federal Constituency in the 2023 elections, has made startling allegations that former Kogi State governor Yahaya Bello is currently evading arrest and hiding within the confines of the Kogi State Government House.

This claim comes in the wake of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) declaring Yahaya Bello wanted in April, due to his failure to appear in court for his arraignment over alleged money laundering amounting to N84 billion. The EFCC has urged anyone with information on Bello’s whereabouts to come forward to assist in his apprehension.

In his statement released on Friday, Austin Okai accused Governor Usman Ododo of assisting Bello in evading the EFCC by reportedly transporting him away from his location on Benghazi Street, Zone 4, Abuja. Okai referenced information purportedly provided to the President and the Attorney General of the Federation by the Northern Ethnic Youth Group Assembly (NEYGA), alleging complicity on Ododo’s part.

Furthermore, Okai asserted that Bello is presently sheltering within the Kogi State Government House under the protection of Governor Usman Ododo. He claimed that Ododo is allegedly taking directions from Bello, who is operating from an undisclosed location.

These accusations add another layer of controversy to the ongoing legal and political saga surrounding Yahaya Bello, highlighting concerns about potential obstruction of justice and the rule of law.

The developments underscore the need for thorough investigation and transparency in addressing allegations of high-profile individuals evading legal proceedings.
