Katsina PDP Crisis Deepens Amid Allegations of Collusion with APC

The Katsina State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Caretaker Committee has addressed a deepening internal crisis, accusing a faction within the party of collaborating with the All Progressives Congress (APC) to undermine the party’s stability.

Lawal Audi Yar’adua, spokesperson for the PDP Caretaker Committee, spoke to the media to dispel allegations made by a faction led by former party chairman Salisu Uli. Uli had claimed that the committee responsible for selling forms for the party’s congress elections had failed to make the forms available, raising concerns about the legitimacy of the process.

In response, Audi asserted that the sale of forms had been transparently conducted over two months prior, with Uli’s faction choosing not to participate. He suggested that Uli’s group was preoccupied with contesting the committee’s legitimacy at the time, thereby ignoring structured party processes, including endorsement procedures at ward and local government levels.

Audi further alleged that Uli’s actions were politically motivated by the APC, implying a deliberate effort to destabilize the Katsina PDP. He accused the faction of disregarding national PDP directives and colluding with the APC, especially following former Governor Ibrahim Shema’s defection to the APC.

Expressing concern over these developments, Audi urged unity within the PDP to resist attempts to destabilize the party. He praised Senator Lado Danmarke’s leadership and commitment to the people, contrasting it with the actions of those seeking to create division.

“Senator Lado Danmarke embodies the true spirit of service and compassion that defines our party. His unwavering commitment to the people of Katsina State sets him apart from those whose only agenda is to sow discord and division,” Audi stated.

Audi concluded by expressing confidence in the resilience of the PDP, urging party members to remain steadfast in their support despite the internal challenges.
