Nigerian-Born Forward Samu Omorodion Included in Spain’s Olympic Squad

Atletico Madrid’s young forward, Samu Omorodion, has been named in Spain’s squad for the 2024 Olympic Games.

Omorodion, who was born in Melilla, Spain, to Nigerian parents, is one of three Atletico Madrid players selected for the squad, joining teammates Pablo Barrios and goalkeeper Alejandro Iturbe.

Despite his inclusion in Spain’s Olympic squad, the 20-year-old Omorodion remains eligible to represent Nigeria at the senior international level.

Spain’s Olympic campaign will begin at the Stade de France in Paris, followed by matches against the Dominican Republic in Bordeaux and Egypt on July 30. The top two teams from their group will advance to the knockout stage.
