Usmanu Danfodiyo University Grieves Loss of Deputy Vice-Chancellor

Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, has announced the tragic death of its Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Yusuf Saidu. Prof. Saidu was killed by bandits in Zamfara State on June 24, 2024, while traveling from Sokoto to Kaduna on official university business.

In a statement issued by the university’s Public Relations Officer, Ismaila Muhammad Yauri, the university expressed deep sorrow over the loss. Prof. Saidu was remembered as a distinguished leader, passionate researcher, and dedicated educator who made significant contributions to the university community.

“Prof. Saidu’s death is a tremendous loss to the university. He was a respected figure in research, innovation, and education, and his contributions have left a lasting impact,” the statement read.

The university extended heartfelt condolences to Prof. Saidu’s family, friends, and colleagues, praying for Allah to grant him Jannatul Firdaus. The entire university community mourns the loss of a valued and beloved member.
