Portable: EFCC Targets Internet Fraudsters Due to Their Extravagant Lifestyles
Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has attributed the crackdown on internet fraudsters by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to their extravagant lifestyles.
In a video shared on his Instagram account, Portable pointed out that many internet fraudsters live lavishly while neglecting their parents, who remain in poverty. He claimed this disparity has drawn the attention of the EFCC.
He said, “Why won’t EFCC arrest the youths when they are doing Yahoo, using iPhone 15 and lodging in hotels, but their mothers are selling akara [bean cake] and their fathers are suffering.”
However, Portable urged the EFCC to conduct thorough investigations before making arrests, noting that not everyone living a luxurious lifestyle is involved in internet fraud.
