Headline: APC Stakeholders Forum Urges Ganduje to Resign as National Chairman
The Forum of Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has called for the resignation of the party’s national chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje. The North-Central chairman of the forum, Alhaji Saleh Zazzaga, made this call during an interview with newsmen in Jos on Tuesday.
Zazzaga highlighted the numerous votes of no confidence and legal challenges faced by Ganduje, suggesting that his continued tenure could harm the party’s unity and progress. He criticized the decision of North-West party stakeholders to pass a vote of confidence in Ganduje, arguing that such actions could lead to confusion within the APC.
“There have been several votes of no confidence passed on Ganduje from his Kano Ward, as well as other protests and litigations, among other agitations against him. But his insistence on remaining in office will only take the APC backwards and tear the party apart. Ganduje already has a lot of issues surrounding him, and the best thing for him is to quit so that he doesn’t cause any harm or constitute a legal liability for the party,” Zazzaga emphasized.
Additionally, Zazzaga advocated for the national chairman position to be zoned to the North-Central region, asserting that it would align with the party’s principles of fairness and equity. He pointed out that someone from the North-Central should have replaced the former national chairman, Abdullahi Adamu, instead of Ganduje, who hails from the North-West.
“Based on party arrangements, someone from North-Central should have replaced the former national chairman, Abdullahi Adamu, not Ganduje, who is from the North-West. In the spirit of fairness and equity, the chairmanship position should be occupied by someone from the North-Central region. We are also part of the ruling party and have played a key role in the emergence of President Bola Tinubu,” Zazzaga maintained.
Zazzaga, who was a member of the APC Presidential Campaign Council in the last general election, believes that Ganduje’s resignation is necessary to prevent further division within the party and to ensure it remains strong and united moving forward.
