Arthur Okonkwo Open to Representing Nigeria or England

Goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo, 22, has expressed his openness to representing either Nigeria or England at the international level. Born in England to Nigerian parents, Okonkwo has the unique advantage of being eligible to play for both nations.

Okonkwo has already played for England at the youth level, showcasing his talents and gaining valuable experience. However, his Nigerian heritage keeps the door open for a potential future with the Super Eagles. The goalkeeper acknowledged the persistent rumours suggesting he could receive an invitation to join Nigeria’s national team for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Despite the speculation, Okonkwo has not yet made a definitive choice regarding his international future. “I’m still really ambitious to play at the international level. I can still play for England or Nigeria, and I’ve not made a choice yet,” he told The Mirror.

Last season, Okonkwo impressed during his loan spell at Wrexham, where he played a crucial role in helping the club gain promotion to League One. His performances have not gone unnoticed, and they have undoubtedly contributed to the ongoing discussions about his potential international career.
