BREAKING: Iheanacho Fires Super Eagles to AFCON 2023
The Super Eagles qualified for the African Cup of Nations (AFCON 2023) thanks to a goal by Nigerian striker Kelechi Iheanacho in the dying seconds.
Iheanacho converted a last-minute shot by defender Zaidu Sanusi into the back of the net, ending the game in a 2-2 draw.
Victor Osimhen, a ferocious Napoli striker, had given the Super Eagles a two-goal advantage halfway through the first half.
But four minutes before the break, Mustapha Bundu scored a thunderous goal to make up the difference.
After the Eagles missed several chances to score, Augustus Kargbo equalized in the 84th minute with a shot from outside the box.
Iheancho, who came in for the wasteful Samuel Chukwueze in the 71st minute, scored almost the last kick of the game to win with all three points.
With the victory, the Super Eagles now lead Guinea-Bissau by 10 points in Group A of the 2023 AFCON qualifier.
24 teams will compete at the AFCON 2023, which Ivory Coast will host, from January 13 to February 11, 2024.
