BREAKING: Tinubu Govt Licenses Eterna, Emadeb, Asharami To Import Petrol
Eterna Plc, Emadeb Energy Services Limited, and Asharami Energy have been granted licenses by the Federal Government, which is led by Bola Tinubu, to import gasoline into the country beginning next month.
According to TheCable, the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) granted permission to the three oil companies to import gasoline.
The news platform was informed by sources that the three businesses were the first of six oil companies licensed to import gasoline by July.
A source stated, Asharami Energy, Emadeb Energy Services Limited, and Eterna Plc are the licensed businesses.
Another source stated, “Dangote refinery is surprisingly not among the first three companies, but there are strong indications that the company will be granted the importation permit in the near future.”
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited stated that it is no longer the sole supplier of gasoline in the nation following the elimination of the subsidy for gasoline.
The company was the nation’s last-resort supplier prior to the elimination of the subsidy, ensuring consistent distribution of petroleum products.
Farouk Ahmed, NMDPRA’s CEO, made the announcement on June 15 that three oil marketers will begin importing petroleum products from next month.
He said that the oil marketers agreed to work more closely with security agencies to make the supply and distribution of petroleum products easier.
He had stated, “Already, three oil marketers will from July this year start importing petroleum products into the country.”
On the other hand, the NMDPRA announced on Monday that there have now been six businesses granted permission to import petroleum into the country.
He stated, “There are six companies who said they want to import fuel in July. Of course, all the others may import in December, in November, or anytime but those who expressed interest to bring in fuel in July there were six of them as of this morning.”
