Former Aviation Minister Hadi Sirika Arraigned Over Alleged N19.4bn Fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned former aviation minister Hadi Sirika on charges of alleged contract fraud. Sirika, along with his brother Ahmad Abubakar Sirika and Enginos Nigeria Limited, a company owned by Abubakar, appeared before Justice Suleman Belgore of the FCT High Court in Garki, Abuja.

Details of the Charges

The defendants face a 10-count amended charge filed on May 14, 2024, accusing Hadi Sirika of abusing his office by awarding contracts worth N19.4 billion to Enginos Nigeria Limited. The charges suggest a significant breach of public trust and mismanagement of public funds.

Plea of Not Guilty

All the defendants, including Hadi Sirika, his brother, and the company, pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against them. The case will proceed to trial where the EFCC will present evidence to support its allegations of fraud and abuse of office.
