Job Description

Are you ready to take your career in data engineering to the next level? FirstBank is currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to fill the role of Associate, in Data Engineering. This position will be based at Samuel Asabia House in Lagos and offers full-time employment.

Job Responsibilities

As an Associate, Data Engineering, you will be responsible for various tasks related to application development projects. Your primary focus will be on detailed design, programming, testing, and rollout, while also providing support for production applications. Key duties and responsibilities include:

1. Coordinating Application Development: Assist in planning, coordinating, and supervising all activities associated with the design, development, and implementation of systems and software applications.
2. Supporting Data Pipelines: Work closely with the development Team Lead to contribute to data pipeline development, management operations, and support.
3. Prototype Development: Play a crucial role in developing prototypes to enhance envisioning and communication, as well as proof-of-concept systems to test technology and validate potential solutions.
4. Coding and Problem-Solving: Perform coding duties based on functional and technical specifications to address business problems effectively.
5. Testing and Quality Assurance: Actively participate in program unit testing, integration, and system testing to ensure high-quality standards are met.
6. System Maintenance and Upgrades: Assist in maintaining, supporting, and upgrading existing IT systems and applications.
7. Application Customization: Contribute to the customization of application packages to meet specific requirements.
8. Ensuring Solution Alignment: Ensure that developed solutions align with the requirements outlined in the design documentation.
9. Timely and Accurate Delivery: Ensure the accuracy and timely delivery of data pipelines.
10. Technical Review and Optimization: Review technical constraints and address performance issues related to business intelligence and integration solutions.
11. Leadership and Guidance: Provide leadership and technical guidance to team members.

Job Requirements

To be considered for this position, the following qualifications are necessary:

• Education: Possess at least a First Degree or its equivalent in a Business/IT-related discipline. A master’s degree, MBA, or recognized professional certification would be an added advantage.
• Experience: Have a minimum of 3 years experience in designing, developing, and delivering solutions.
