The inaugural flight for the 2024 Muslim pilgrimage from General Tunde Idiagbon International Airport in Ilorin, Kwara State, has been rescheduled to Tuesday, May 21. This adjustment was announced by the Kwara State Muslim Pilgrims Board, citing directives from the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) and airlines due to some delays in the initial plans.

Key Details:

  1. Reason for Change:
  • The rescheduling is attributed to delays from NAHCON and the airlines involved. The Kwara State Pilgrims Board and local authorities have no control over these changes.

Statement from the Executive Secretary:

Abdulkadir Abdulsala, the executive secretary of the Kwara State Muslim Pilgrims Board, expressed regret over the inconvenience caused by the change. He emphasized that the decision was beyond the control of the state pilgrims board or any local authorities.

“What this change means is that our pilgrims should not come to the camp today (Sunday) again, as earlier announced. They should come tomorrow, Monday, May 20, ahead of their inaugural flight on Tuesday at 10:20 am. This affects only the intending pilgrims whose names were earlier scheduled for the inaugural flight. Further information will be released to guide all our pilgrims and the general public. While this slight change is regretted, it is totally out of the control of the state pilgrims board or any local authorities,” Abdulsala stated.

Conclusion

The rescheduling of the inaugural Hajj flight underscores the complexities and logistical challenges often associated with large-scale pilgrimages. Pilgrims are encouraged to stay informed through official channels for any further updates or changes to their travel plans.
