Peter Obi Meets with Atiku in Abuja

Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, paid a visit to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar in Abuja on Monday, May 13.

In a tweet, Atiku expressed his gratitude for Obi’s visit, describing it as an honor and a privilege.

Although Atiku, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, did not reveal the purpose of Obi’s visit, some Nigerians on social media speculate that it might be related to the 2027 elections.

According to Politics Nigeria, Peter Obi was Atiku’s running mate in the 2019 presidential election. He later joined the Labour Party a few months before the 2023 PDP primary election.

In the meantime, Atiku’s spokesperson, Paul Ibe, clarified that Atiku had no role in Obi’s departure from the party. Ibe explained that Nyesom Wike, the FCT minister, promoted his zone for the presidency in the south, which influenced Obi’s decision to leave the PDP.

Ibe further stated, “Wike has pursued his own interests, which are not aligned with those of the PDP. It’s all about his personal agenda, not the party’s.”

Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.
