Police Make Arrests in Tragic Wedding Ceremony Incident
The Niger State Police Command has taken swift action following the tragic killing of a health worker, Umar Mohammed, during a wedding ceremony in Minna, the state capital. Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident, which occurred at the Gbeganu area of Minna.
According to eyewitnesses, the attack occurred suddenly, with over 10 hoodlums wielding dangerous weapons storming the wedding venue. Amidst the chaos, Umar Mohammed was fatally stabbed in the head by one of the assailants as he attempted to leave the venue.
SP Wasiu Abiodun, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, provided details of the incident, explaining that Mohammed, who was returning from work, had decided to attend the wedding ceremony. Tragically, he sustained severe injuries to the head and was rushed to the General Hospital in Minna, where he succumbed to his wounds.
The swift response of police patrol teams led to the apprehension of two suspects at the scene, while others managed to flee. The police have launched a thorough investigation into the matter and are actively pursuing the remaining suspects.
