Showmax’s first Original Nigerian telenovela, Wura, has arrived at its 100th episode!
This achievement denotes the finish of its gigantically famous first season. The telenovela remains in Showmax’s Top 20 most-watched list of all streamer in Nigeria, where it is the most popular drama series on the streaming service.
The 100th episode is a huge milestone for the series that procured the lead actress and protagonist, Scarlet Gomez, a nomination for Best Actress in a Drama at the 2023 AMVCAs.
The Nigerian version of the award-winning South African 1Magic television series The River, which received an International Emmy nomination, is called Wura.

The series follows the existences of characters fortified and partitioned by the revelation of gold in Iperindo, a little local area in Osun state where the story is set.
Everything starts when the tough as nails anti-hero Wura Amoo-Adeleke, a mining magnate, finds that there is not any more gold left in her mines. Her distress to find gold sets off a progression of events that involve secrets, murder and betrayal.
With a heavenly cast of laid out and rising Nollywood stars including Yomi Fash-Lanso, Song Lord, Beam Adeka, Iremide Adeoye, Ego Iheanacho, Martha Ehinome, and Lanre Adediwura, the series has garnered a committed fan base since its debut in January 2023.
