Tinubu Administration Committed to Interfaith Harmony, Says VP Shettima
Vice President Kashim Shettima reaffirmed the Tinubu administration’s dedication to religious freedom and interfaith unity during the inauguration of the NCPC board.
Vice President Kashim Shettima emphasized the commitment of President Bola Tinubu’s administration to uphold religious freedom and promote interfaith unity. Speaking at the inauguration of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC) Board at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, Shettima highlighted the importance of faith in the nation’s stability and comfort for its citizens.
Shettima asserted that Nigeria’s strength lies in its religious diversity, ensuring there will be no discrimination under Tinubu’s government. He stressed the administration’s duty to protect the rights and freedoms of all faiths, urging the NCPC board to prioritize easing pilgrimage affairs for Nigerian Christians.
The Vice President called for the new NCPC board members to be champions of interfaith harmony through compassion, justice, and mutual respect. He underscored that dialogue, empathy, and reconciliation are essential for Nigeria to overcome division and intolerance.
Shettima recalled President Tinubu’s pledge against discrimination, reiterating the administration’s commitment to making interfaith harmony a top priority. He encouraged Nigerians to view diversity as a strength and to be supportive and kind to one another.
Rev. (Monsignor) Cletus Gotan, the newly appointed Chairman of the NCPC board, expressed gratitude for the government’s support in sponsoring pilgrimages that promote spiritual upliftment. He pledged to enhance pilgrimage services and ensure the NCPC fulfills its role in fostering unity and spiritual growth.
