North Central APC Cautions North West Counterparts Against Backing Ganduje

The North Central All Progressives Congress (APC) Forum has issued a stern warning to its North West counterparts against passing a vote of confidence on the embattled National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje. The forum highlighted that Ganduje has faced several votes of no confidence from his Kano ward and other party members, indicating his tenure could harm the APC and create internal divisions.

Alhaji Saleh Mandung Zazzaga, the forum’s Chairman, expressed these concerns during a press briefing in Jos, Plateau State, following a recent meeting of North West APC stakeholders in Kaduna. Zazzaga emphasized that the endorsement of Ganduje by these stakeholders seems insensitive given the ongoing crises within the party. He urged Ganduje to step down to avoid further damaging the party or creating legal complications.

Zazzaga pointed out that, according to party arrangements, the position of National Chairman should belong to the North Central region, specifically to someone from Nasarawa State. The previous National Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu, was from this region. He stressed that the North Central region deserves to reclaim this leadership role, especially given their significant contributions to the party’s success, including winning five out of six states in the region during recent elections.

The Chairman further noted that the North West already holds significant positions, such as the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the Deputy Senate President. He argued that, in the interest of fairness and equity, the National Chairmanship should return to the North Central region.

Zazzaga called on President Bola Tinubu to restore the privileges of the North Central region and urged the people of the region to unite in their efforts to oust Ganduje. He revealed that the North Central APC Forum has filed a suit against Ganduje, with a hearing scheduled for May 30th. He encouraged support and prayers from stakeholders to ensure a favorable outcome.

The forum’s stance underscores the importance of adhering to party arrangements and ensuring fair representation across all regions within the APC.
