'All-girls village' welcomes its first baby boy in 10 years
Poland Miejsce Odrzańskie, where 10 years ago only girls were born, just welcomed the first boy.
Anna Milek, a resident of the small village of Miejsce Odrzańskie, in southern Poland, announced that she had given birth to her son Bartek on May 2. Anna thinks that Bartek is really a miracle because last year, she had to collect to perform an important surgery, otherwise she would not be able to give birth.
"The surgery gave me life and created a miracle, because Bartek was not only a boy but also a boy of the village Miejsce Odrzańskie," Anna said.

Miejsce Odrzańskie Village, which has only 300 residents, gained attention in international media last year because it was all female. The last boy born in Miejsce Odrzańskie was in 2010. This farming village also suffered a severe population decline when young women left the village in search of husbands and building a new life elsewhere.
Tomasz Golasz, father of two girls and head of the local volunteer fire brigade, said a month ago, another girl was born in the village, the 13th girl in 10 years.
In August 2019, the mayor of the region, Mr. Rajmund Frischko, announced a reward for the couple who gave birth to a son, even considering naming the boy a street and an oak tree. 10 months later, the good news broke the village.
"This is great news, especially at this time, when we are all dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic," said Frischko.
Grzegorz, Bartek's father, is now hailed as a "local hero", while the mayor says his reward is still valid.
Anna and her son are still in the hospital because she gave birth by cesarean section. However, Anna said she was ready to welcome the whirlwind from the media.
"I'm glad Bartek will have this anniversary gift for the rest of his life," she said.

Officials could not explain why the Miejsce Odrzańskie villagers had only girls. Many people give advice to couples in the village, in which a doctor insists that women who want to have a boy must follow a calcium-rich diet. The mayor of Frischko proposed a "put an ax under his bed" tip following the method of the Polish highlanders.
Statisticians calculate that the long-term fertility rate of the girl is one in over 4,000. Tomasz Golasz last year said this fact had been going on in Miejsce Odrzańskie for decades.
"I came to the village and married a local woman as a wife. We have two daughters. My neighbor tried hard but still has two daughters. I think the women here don't have a son," he said. to speak.
However, statistics show that Poland has more boys than girls. In 2017, it was 207,000 boys compared to 196,000 girls.
