Proper treatment of oral thrush

Babies with mild fungus can thrush 3 times a week, severe antifungal medication must be used.

Candian fungus is a common disease in children, causing children to lose appetite and stop eating because of mouth sores, long-term sore throat, pneumonia, bronchitis ... When fungus, mucosa of cheeks and tongue appear milk-white patches, adhering hard to peel off.

According to Dr. Dao Thi Mai, a graduate student in Saint-Petersburg University Medical University, children of different ages have different levels of fungal infections and different treatments:

Infant

Babies get fungal infection from their mothers during labor or when breastfeeding. To treat, use vegetable juice or salt water to wash and thrush the child 3 times a week. Exclusive breastfeeding. Mother needs careful hygiene when breastfeeding.

Children 6 months and older

The main cause of disease at this age is due to antibiotic abuse. If the child's condition is weak, the fungus will grow and spread to the mouth, making the disease worse. Need to clean foods, do not eat food, do not eat too hot food and must be clean. Use 0.9% physiological saline solution to gargle children. Give children plenty of fluids to clean their mouths after eating.

Because the child's resistance is not yet complete, when treating, the fungus should not go out all at once and peel the mushrooms on the tongue. In serious illness, you must see a doctor for antifungal medication, both topical and oral, to treat.

Prevent

- Clean the oral cavity, tongue of children properly and regularly.

- Do not let infants suck pacifiers for too long, do not breastfeed for more than 20 minutes, do not suck on babies when sleeping.

- Limit children to snack, candy, and soft drinks in the evening to avoid creating an environment for mushrooms to multiply.

- When a child has thrush, it is necessary to follow the prescription prescribed by the doctor and not arbitrarily use antifungal medication for the child.
