INEC Receives Petition to Recall Zamfara Lawmaker Over Poor Representation

Constituents of Kaura Namoda-Birnin Magaji in Zamfara State have formally notified INEC of their intention to recall Hon. Aminu Sani Jaji from the House of Representatives.


The constituents of Kaura Namoda-Birnin Magaji federal constituency in Zamfara State have submitted a recall petition to the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Mahmood Yakubu. They seek to recall Hon. Aminu Sani Jaji from the House of Representatives due to what they describe as poor representation, citing Section 69 of the Nigerian Constitution.

The recall letter was acknowledged and stamped upon submission at the INEC Headquarters in Abuja. Following this, constituents have started gathering signatures from registered voters. These signatures will be verified by INEC, after which a referendum will be conducted to finalize the recall process.

The statement, signed by Hon. Bello Mahmud Birnin Magaji, chairman of the Coalition for Sustainable Democracy, and Comrade Mustapha Ibrahim, the secretary, urged voters to participate actively in the recall process. They stressed the importance of recalling Hon. Jaji, criticizing his failure to effectively represent the constituency during critical times.
