In a new interview, Afrobeats vocalist David Adeleke widely known as Davido uncovers how his partner, Wizkid motivated him to be an artiste.
Davido said in an interview that while he was living in the United States of America (U.S.), he was inspired to become a singer when he sawupcoming artiste like Wizkid trying to break into the Nigerian music industry.
He expressed that as around then, the greatest artistes were Psquare, D’banj, 2Baba then the rise of Wizkid causes him to have interest into the Nigeria music industry.
In his own words, I remember being in the club then like the biggest artistes were like Psquare, D’banj, even then Wizkid was like young, really young because I remember like he was just coming up in the game, so the game was coming up.
And I remember that moment I was like I want to do Nigerian music I want to get on this early, like I can really tall like is going to be big.”
Even though Wizkid and Davido had become industrial rivalry over the years, the two musicians are unquestionably one of the biggest things to happen to the Afrobeats because they have taken the music genre to a global level and put the country’s name on the map.
